The clubs membership is currently restricted to 35 members. We may have to operate a waiting list. The first thing to do is to contact the club secretary at admin@scmfc.co.uk to check if there are spaces available. Note, if you haven't heard from us within 2 days, please ring (01371 875761) as your email may have gone into a spam folder.

If you are serious about getting into R/C flying, a good starting point would be to get a decent R/C flight simulator. There are several about, but one that is especially realistic and a true representation of what our hobby is about is the Phoenix Flight Sim. You can get a free demo by visiting:

http://www.phoenix-sim.com/downloads_demo.htm

As always, the sim is only as good as the hardware that is supporting the software so please check out exactly whether the software will run smoothly on your system. This club now recommends this simulator.

The most common questions asked is what model should I get. There are lots of trainers about. One which has been popular and showed the best results is the Ready 2 by ARC. Please look at the following website for details http://www.ripmax.com

A good engine in an SC 46 or 52.

There are several model shops that sell the model. Perhaps try http://www.alshobbies.com

Another common question is what radio should I get. 2.4 GHz is probably the best way to go. 35 MHz sets are still very popular but can be more prone to interference problems, but it is still very early days with 2.4 GHz. Perhaps consider a radio like the Futaba 6EX-FASST 2.4Ghz Radio-Full Set. Another popular radio is the slightly more expensive Spektrum 2.4.

Have a good look at all the websites before making a decision, you could also email us for advice.
